Description
A quick moving storm was passing near a wheat field in Marshall County, Kansas when I stopped to make this photo. The storm was producing sporadic lightning and I was fortunate to catch the lightning strike seen in this photo. Visually I like the contrast in colors between the wheat and the storm and the lightning adds to the drama of the scene. On another level though this photograph represents contrasting emotions... the joy of a successful wheat crop raised and ready for harvest and the anxiety that the storm could damage the field and ruin the harvest. I can't imagine dealing with that situation and very grateful for the farmers that do face this (and much more).
